Starlight Downtown Movie Series – June 1 2013 Mary Poppins
Enjoy drive-in movie-style movies (without the cars) on a 25’x30’ inflatable screen. A street party with games and food and beverage vendors makes this night a family-friendly event from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Festival Park. For info: downtowncastlerock.org.
Elephant Rock Bike Tour - June 2, 2013
The 26th Subaru Elephant Rock Cycling Festival has the free Shimano Youth Series for 5-12 yr olds, a 7-mile family course, a 25-mile off-road, and 34, 62 and 100- mile roads of beautiful views through rural county routes followed by the Party at the Rock. Courses range from 16 to 100 miles in length with Castle Rock being the start and finish line. Once the trek is done, riders fill up on delicious food, brew and enjoy the festival activities. And, believe it or not, every year there is a real live elephant present at the event, which adds to the fun. Elephant Rock Facebook Page
Ducky Derby – June 8, 2012
Who doesn’t love silly fun? The Castle Rock Ducky Derby began in 1997 with only 500 rubber ducks racing down East Plum Creek to a finish line and has grown to being one of the most anticipated summer event for Castle Rock and Castle Pines residents. In 2011 the Rotary Clubs raised over $38,000 and was awarded to local, regional and International Rotary charities. The three fastest ducky’s win their sponsors a cash prize and there is even a chance to win ONE MILLION DOLLARS or a new car. Pedal the Moonlight Ride Saturday, July 20, 2013
Where the fun is as full as the moon! The fourth-annual 6-mile ride on mostly flat terrain along East Plum Creek Trail is back for 2013. This is geared for riders of all ages. Riders are encouraged to light and decorate their bikes. All rider must wear a helmet and have a front headlamp and blinking rear light. There will be prizes, snacks and lost of fun. This is a one-way ride; please make arrangements for post-ride transportation.

Castle Rock WineFest – July 24, 2013 Noon – 6 p.m.
Truly a highlight of the summer includes the Castle Rock WineFest where over 20 Colorado wineries gather to present their award-winning wines in an exquisite outdoor setting at The Grange facility in The Meadows at Historic Castle Rock. Stroll in the park and enjoy wonderful fare from area chefs, culinary demonstrations, fine artisans, ice carving with a grape stomp added this year. Live music fills the air throughout the day. Fido Fest attracts the many dog lovers in the Castle Rock area. Fido Fest features fun activities, interesting demonstrations and a “flea market” offering a variety of great pet-related products. Between 800 and 1,000 people (plus their dogs!) have attended Fido Fest during its first three years. Douglas County Fair – August 8 through August 11 2012
The lazy days of August celebrate the charm of the Old-fashioned County Fair and the tradition of the Douglas County Fair Parade and BBQ. These two events have been held for over 65 years. This week showcases bronco busting rodeos, carnival rides and parades complete with cotton candy, hot-dogs and lemonade. After the downtown parade on Saturday, a scrumptious BBQ with all the fixin’s is held at the Castle Rock Fire Department. To top things off, an evening concert is held at the Douglas County Events Center. Contact information for the Fair and Concert is (720)733-6900 .
The Douglas County Fair and Rodeo from August 9-12 emphasizes 4-H entries, rodeo and agricultural events and country music entertainment. It is located at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and Events Center.
2013 Douglas County Fair Parade August 10, 2013
Celebrate the charm of an old-fashioned Fair Parade in downtown Castle Rock, brought to you by the Castle Rock Chamber in partnership with the Town of Castle Rock. Parade starts on the south end of Town, followed by the traditional BBQ to benefit the Douglas County High School Huskies at the Castle Rock Fire Department at 300 N. Perry Street.

Wacky W cycling event September 8, 2013
The third annual WackyW is Susie Wargins Douglas County Schools Fundraising Project is a one-day cycling event to encourage fitness, fun, and fundraising. With four rides to choose from, and money from each registration benefiting Douglas County Schools, the WackyW is a no-brainer way to spend a Sunday in Colorado! Riders enjoy a spacious staging area at Rocky Heights Middle School, stocked aid stations, excellent post-ride food, an amazing expo, and fun-filled goodie bags.
Riders have the option of four courses:
- 6 mile – perfect for kids of all ages or anyone looking for a fun ride on the trail systems.
- 45 mile – offers some climbing, flats and beautiful terrain taking riders through the major cities of Douglas County.
- 62 mile – same as the 45, but with beautiful scenery rolling out and back along Highway 105 to reach a metric century.
- 100 mile – same as the 62, but with even more beautiful scenery, including Tomah Road and Palmer Lake.
